Postgraduate Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are charged annually to all students during the minimum candidature period for your programme and will increase in line with UKRI recommendations.  The candidature periods and related Tuition Fee costs are outlined below:-

• You will be required to pay fees for the full minimum candidature period irrespective if you've been permitted to submit at an earlier point.
• A bench fee may be charged on top of your tuition fee to cover specialist equipment or laboratory costs required for your research. If a bench fee is to be charged, the amount will be determined by your supervisor and included in your Offer of Study.
• Fee costs for visiting research students will be charged at 50% of the above rates.
• Fee costs for associate research students will be charged at 25% of the above rates.
• If you undertake your research at your place of employment you will be regarded as an external student and the fee costs will be 50% of the above rates.

Note: Additional tuition fees may be charged in your 'writing up' period if it is deemed appropriate at the annual Progression Boards due to extensive supervision or laboratory use.

• You will be required to pay fees for the full minimum candidature period irrespective if you've been permitted to submit at an earlier point.
• Tuition Fees for Taught Master's programmes are inclusive of dissertation costs
• The minimum candidature period for a standard part-time programme is 3 years (2 years for Flexible programmes and 4 years for Extended programmes)

In addition to your tuition fee charges and living costs certain programmes (or modules) may attract further mandatory or optional costs necessary for you to fully participate and complete your program of choice. You will need to budget for these costs separately as they are not included in the overall tuition fee you are charged. Such costs can include fieldwork trips, travelling expenses for work or study placements, laboratory and equipment costs or CRB checks specific to your programme.

If you are sponsored by an external organisation such as a Charity, Employer or Overseas Government/Agency please ensure that your full funding details are scanned to studentfinance@swansea.ac.uk prior to your enrolment.

If you do not have an official letter from your organisation please arrange with your sponsor to complete a Sponsor confirmation form.

If you withdraw from your programme early (or suspend your studies) you may be eligible for a refund.
