The Student Remote PC Access Service provides students with secure remote access to University PCs through LabStats, a web portal. It offers a flexible, reliable way to access campus computing resources from another location.
Originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, the service is now an established part of the University’s digital learning provision. Students can access PCs in several campus computer labs, with around 23 machines available at any one time.
Students can use the service to:
- access specialist software;
- use high-specification University computers;
- work on coursework remotely; and
- use applications or computing power that may not be available on personal devices.
This means students can access the same essential tools and systems available on campus, wherever they are studying. By extending access beyond physical computer labs, the service helps create a more flexible, inclusive, and equitable learning experience for all students.
International students accessing the service from outside the UK must comply with UKVI requirements. For more information, please refer to the Engagement Monitoring Policy.
Students can find instructions and FAQs for this service on our Remote PC Access for Students webpage.
