We look forward to meeting you during induction week and supporting you throughout your studies. This programme offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills, and professional practice through flexible, work-based learning. We hope you find the experience enjoyable, rewarding, and relevant to your professional goals.

Important: Compulsory Induction Week

Date and Time: 5-9 October 2026, 09:30-16:00 daily
Location: Singleton Campus (room details below)

Induction Week is an essential part of the programme and will prepare you for successful study at Level 7. Attendance for the full week is mandatory. If you are unable to attend, your place on the programme will be deferred until the next academic year.

During the week, you will:

  • Meet the course team and your Personal Tutor
  • Develop your academic writing and critical thinking skills
  • Learn about work-based learning, prepare work for assessment, and action learning
  • Explore key topics such as learning contracts, narrative writing, evidence gathering, and assessment requirements
  • Complete guided activities that will help you prepare for your studies

Before You Arrive

Please ensure that you:

  • Are fully enrolled on the programme and module SHGM90 Starting your professional development
  • Access Canvas and review the induction materials
  • Bring a laptop, tablet, or mobile device to induction

Your Learning Community

You will be joining a diverse community of healthcare professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the programme. We encourage you to learn from one another, share your experiences, and make the most of the opportunities available throughout your studies. The programme is designed to support both individual development and collaborative learning, helping you build valuable professional networks along the way.

  • Complete induction week and all guided learning
  • Engage actively with your Personal Tutor and learning activities
  • Make full use of Canvas and Action Learning opportunities
  • Meet assessment deadlines
  • Let your Personal Tutor or Programme Director know if you encounter any difficulties that may affect your studies

We recognise that our students balance their studies alongside demanding professional and personal commitments. Please remember that you will not be undertaking this journey alone. We are here to support you throughout your studies and look forward to welcoming you during induction week.
