Three Minute Thesis, 3MT, is a national competition which asks you to do just that. 3MT challenges doctoral students to present their research topic to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes, giving them an opportunity to showcase their research and develop essential public engagement skills.

Join us on Wednesday 10th June 2026 in Taliesin where we'll be hearing from some of our best and brightest PGRs from across the three faculties who will be sharing their research in just three minutes, with only one slide to help them.

Whether you’re a public speaking pro or just want to give it a go, 3MT is for every PGR. The PGRS researcher development will team provide you with support throughout the competition and all entrants will have a one to one meeting before the qualifier to support your entry. Further training, support and feedback will be provided to all those who progress to the 3MT final.
To enter the competition, just register for one of our two qualifying rounds. The top speakers will go through to Swansea’s 3MT final held on 10th June as part of the PGR Festival.
