Travel smart
At Swansea University, we encourage active and sustainable travel. It’s better for your health, your wallet, and the planet. Whether you're heading to lectures, the beach, or into town, there are loads of easy, affordable ways to get around.
Walk it
Walking is one of the best ways to get to know your new home. Depending on where you’re living, you may be able to walk to campus and enjoy safe, scenic routes along the way.
Cycle it
Cycling is a fast and healthy way to get around. Whether you bring your own bike or rent one, there are plenty of places to store, repair, and enjoy it on campus.
Our Swansea University Cycles scheme is great value at just £10 a year for students with the first 30 minutes of each journey for free and convenient docking stations across the City.
Bus it
The First Cymru UniBus network connects both campuses and the city centre. Services are timetabled around your needs and new improvements mean it's even easier to get around. Download the First Bus app to check routes, buy tickets, and stay updated. If you’re under 22, make sure you apply for a MyTravelPass.
It gives you:
- £1 single journeys
- £3 unlimited day travel
- ⅓ off weekly, monthly, and annual tickets
You must apply first to get these discounts – visit the MyTravelPass website
Note: MyTravelPass doesn’t work with Tap On, Tap Off – use traditional tickets via the app or bus driver.
Don’t Bring a Car
Car parking on campus and across the city is extremely limited. We strongly discourage students from bringing cars to university. With so many better travel options available, you really don’t need one! If you do need to drive due to personal circumstances, info about parking permits is available on our website.
